APL adds more Central America port calls to West Coast 5 service

Wed Aug 03 09:45:16 CEST 2016 arnekiel

APL has announced that its West Coast 5 (WC5) service will be serving the additional ports of Corinto, Nicaragua, Acajutla, El Salvador, and Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, in Central America, enhancing direct connectivity between the Port of Los Angeles and the Latin American markets. ”The WC5 service has been refined to better support trade activities between Central America and the US,” said APL. As the industries of Central America continue to be key exporters of agricultural produce and commodities, as well as manufactured products such as clothes and textiles to the US, APL’s enhanced WC5 service will enable a more direct access between the two regions. Meanwhile, shippers can expect to benefit from shorter transit times, compared to transhipment options that involve land transportation via Mexico. From 14 September 2016, the enhanced WC5 service will call the ports of Los Angeles, Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico, Corinto in Nicaragua, Acajutla in El Salvador, and Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala, every week. http://www.seatrade-maritime.com/news/americas/apl-adds-more-central-america-port-calls-to-west-coast-5-service.html
