Bulk carrier attacked by Houthi terrorists
The 'Seajoy', en route from Rizhao to Durban, was hit by a waterborne improvised explosive device on June 27, 2024, while sailing in the Red Sea, about 80 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah. No one on board was injured, and the ship continued sailing to the next scheduled port. The UKMTO has not yet reported any damage to the vessel. According to the Houthi militia, the ship was attacked with missiles, drones and surface drones because it has allegedly called at an Israeli port. However, searches in maritime databases do not confirm calls in Israel in the past 12 months.
Ship released from qurantine
The 'Seajoy' has been released from quarantine at Santos anchorage, which had lasted since June 23, 2020. The ship had loaded 63.500 tons of soybeans, but upon the departure two crew were tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The crew was quarantined on board, and after a finally check set sail to the Iran.
