Engine room fire in Sunda Strait
The 'Seaborne Petro', en route from Jakarta to Cinta, caught fire in the waters of the Sunda Strait in the night of Sep 15, 2022, at 8 p.m. WIB. The fire broke out in the engine room and did not cause any casualties. At 8.20 p.m., the m/v 'Meratus Sampit' and TB 'Pancaran 2' approached the tanker. At 8.30 p.m. both ships were lowering the lifeboats, and the 'Seaborne Petro' dropped its anchor. At 8:42 p.m. the fire in the engine room was extinguished and was in the process of cooling.
Tanker disabled off Bintan
On May 26, 2021, the 'Seaborne Petro', enroute from Belawan to Arjuna Port, Cirebon, West Java, with 30 crew members on board, suffered an engine failure off Bintan. The ship dropped anchor to carry out repairs. The patrol boat 'KN Rantos P-210' arrived at the location eight nautical miles from the beach of Berakit Village at 4 p.m. to assist until repairs have been completed and the ship can continue its voyage.
