Convoy stuck on Kiel Canal

Mon Jun 04 10:34:04 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "MTS Vanquish", pulling the cement reloading barge "Vesper" from the Nauta yard in Gdynia to Tilbury after steel, machine, maintenance and painting works had been performed as well as inspection of loading devices and replacement of aggregates, veered off course in the morning of June 3, 2018, and the barge got stuck in the northern embankment of the Kiel Canal below the Levensauer Bridge. After about 10 minutes, the stern tug "Holtenau" managed to pull the barge off. The convoy turned at the siding Schwartenbek and berthed at the Voith quay in the North Port of Kiel after the accident for inspections. The convoy finally left the Voith Quay in Kiel on June 14 at 5.40 a.m., and continued the voyage to Tilbury with a revised ETA as of June 18, 5 a.m. now.
