Rudder failure in Bosphoruus
In the night of March 29, 2024, the 'Sea Turtle', en route from Tuzla to the Ukraine, suffered a rudder failure in front of Kandilli during the transit of the Bosphorus. The ship was moored at the Türkeli anchorage under the coordination of our İGTH Center, assisted by a pilot, the tug 'Kurtarma 8'(IMO: 9598610) and the pilot boat 'Bayrak 1' (MMSI:271043763). Technical failure in the Bosphorus
The 'Mare: en route from Azov to Hereke, suffered a technical failure during the transit of the Bosphorus and moored at Büyükdere anchorage on July 10, 2021. at 8.50 p.m. Repairs were started by the crew, and the ship remained stationary in pos. 40° 58.47' N 028° 55.44' E as of July 12.
One crew member fell over board, one jumped behind to save him - one alive, one dead
One crew member of the 'Mare' fell overboard in Varna shortly after the ship left the port in the evening of Dec 14, 2020. Another crew member jumped over board to save him. In the darkniss both could not be localized immediately. An SAR operation was launched involving the port authority and the Coast Guard. One of the two was found and rescued alive, while the one was recovered dead. The ship anchored in the inner port in pos. 43° 11.90' N 027° 51.06' E for investigations. Both crew members were of Turkish nationality.
