Chinese aframax New Alliance and Russian freighter Sea Star 1 drifting in Japan sea
Russian general cargo vessel Sea Star 1 became disabled after engine failure in Japan sea, some 60 nautical miles south of Nakhodka port, presumably on Mar 31 13. Crew tried to fix the problem, but apparently, failed, and on Apr 2 required assistance. Salvage tug Lazurit (IMO 8832590) was dispatched to the distressed vessel, and as of 1000 UTC Apr 2 should already take her on tow. Sea Star 1 was en route from Vanino to China. Some 30 miles to the north from Sea Star 1, another vessel is drifting, Chinese aframax New Alliance, en route from Longkou, China, to Kozmino, Russia. Why vessel is drifting, is unknown. Maybe some mechanical failure, maybe waiting for a berth in Kozmino.
