G E Shipping takes delivery of MR product tanker

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. (G E Shipping) took delivery of a 2005 built Medium Range (MR) product tanker “Jag Pranav” (about 51,300), the Company said in a press release. With the induction of “Jag Pranav”, the Company’s fleet stands at 30 vessels, comprising 22 tankers (8 crude carriers, 13 product tankers, 1 LPG carrier) and 8 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 3 Kamsarmax, 4 Supramax) with an average age of 9.0 years aggregating 2.42 mn dwt. The Company’s current order book stands at 4 vessels comprising 2 new building Kamsarmax dry bulk carriers, 1 new building Medium Range (MR) product tanker and 1 second hand 1994 built Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC).

Medevac off Staten Island

The U.S. Coast Guard was called on Apr 2, 2012, to rescue a crew member from the "Energy Power" off Staten Island. The 58-year-old man had lost consciousness after hitting his head aboard the vessel. The ship reached out to the Coast Guard for a medevac. A Coast Guard boat crew transferred the injured man onto a boat and got him safely to shore.
