Offshore vessel broke down
The Harwich RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was called to assist the "Ocean Dawn" that had broken down 27 miles out to sea. The charity’s volunteer lifeboat crew launched at 10.10 a.m. on Aug 17, 2014, following a call for help from the crew of the Ocean Dawn. The vessel’s engines had failed and it was drifting close to the Gabbard Wind Farm. The lifeboat, in fairly rough weather, towed the vessel into the safety of Harwich harbour where it was moored at the Navyard Wharf at 4 p.m. All five persons onboard were well.
