Ship capsized in Iskenderun

The 'Sea Eagle', loaded with containers, lost stability during offloading operation at Iskenderun in the night of Sep 17, 2022. The ship tilted to portside and then rolled over.T he ship capsized due to an imbalance in the distribution of the weight of the cargo. Efforts to rebalance the ship did not yield results, it sank while lying on its port side. The crew members, who were evacuated timely, were safe and sound. 24 containers which fell into the water were recovered. The clean-up operations were still in progress on Sep 19 to avoid hydrocarbon pollution. The wreck was surrounded by oil booms. The ship had arrived at Iskenderun in the afternoon of Sep 17 en route from Mersin. Detained cargo ship released

The "Stella di Mare" which was detained at the port of Thessaloniki on Oct 17, sailed from the port and called at Tuzla on Nov 10, 2018, at 11.25 a.m.
