Passengers disembarked on pontoon bridge
All passengers of the "Filia Rheni" were disembarked in the evening of June 6 in Vienna. For this purpose the fire brigade had constructed a floating pontoon bridge. Among the 160 persons aboard 130 were belinging to a British travel group. All passengers were weearing life vests when they were taken ahsore where coaches were waiting. For safety reasons also a boat with divers attended. There was no date yet when the "Filia Rheni" would be able to proceed as the Danube remained closed for ship traffic.
River cruise ship stuck in Vienna
The 120 passengers and 40 crew aboard the "Filia Rheni" were caught aboard their ship in Vienna due to the flooding on the Danube in which the wharf got submerged. The ship remained moored at a pontoon in Nussdorf. There was no danger of the ship breaking lose. The passengers had already boarded the ship on June 2 when the river traffic had to be halted. The water Level then rose too fast to be able to disembark the passengers. Fire Brigade and police investigated the situation on June 5 to be able to transfer the passengers ashore if needed.
