Schlei Princess disabled - passengers returned aboard vinking ships
The "Schlei Princess" was disabled off Karschau on the Schlei on July 16, 2012 on a round trip on the fjord. The rudder gear had suffered a technical malfunction so that the ship went adrift. The two DGzRS-lifeboats "Onkel Willi" and "Butt" towed the ship to the port of Kappeln where the passengers were disembarked two hours late. They were taken back to Schleswig aboard the vinking ship replica "Havhingsten" and another viking ship which were on their home trip from Haddeby. The damage of the rudder was repiared in the night of July 17 so that the ship was able to start to Schleimuende at 10.30 a.m. as scheduled.
