Schaumburg hit by closing locks
The "Schaumburg", 1078 ts (EU-No.: 4010450), allided with the Weser lock in Landesbergen on May 14, 2013, at 2.30 p.m. and suffered significant damage. The ship which was loaded with gravel was heading for the lock with low speed. When it was 50 meters away, the gates started to Close by human error. The master from Brake tried to stop the ship, but it was damaged on both sides of the hull when passing the gates. The Weser had to be closed until 6.45 p.m. at the accident site. The damage to the ship was estimated to be around 30.000 Euro, the damage to the lock was unclear.
