Tanker grounded in Gleðivík

Thu Feb 15 10:08:32 CET 2024 Timsen

The 'Scanbio Viking' ran aground in Inner-Gleðivík at Djúpavog in on Feb 10, 2024, at 8.20 a.m. en route from Gothenburg, and suffered a damaged propeller and rudder. The Coast Guard called tugs in Reyðarfjörður and Höfn, which were, however, unable to reach the site at high tide. The ship could be refloated with the help of large excavators from the land, and it was berthed in the port of Gleðivík at 1 p.m. A diver inspected the ship after it arrived in port and there was no obvious damage to its hull. The owner company was now working to get a tug contracted to tow it for repairs. Report with photos: https://www.ruv.is/frettir/innlent/2024-02-12-flutningaskip-strandadi-vid-djupavog-404854

Tanker waiting for repairs

Thu Jan 20 19:18:40 CET 2022 Timsen

The 'Sarah Wonsild' remained stationary in the port of Rotterdam as of Jan 19. The explosion had ruptured a tank loaded with 1-heptene. The vessel was moored and unloaded and is still located at the Vopak Terminal Europoort. The Dutch authorities have launched an investigation. The shipping company controlled by the Amoretti family has also reconstructed the incident and the consequences for the chemical tanker. The ship is to be launched soon for repairs.
