Grounding en route from Kristiansund
The 'Scan Trans', en route from Kristiansund, ran aground while manoeuvring in pos. 64 23 20 N, 010 30 45 E on Jan 10, 2023, at around 1 p.m. LT. No tug assistance was required. The ship berthed at the Kverhusvika Skipsverft for damage inspections and possible repair works. No pollution was reported.
Ship towed to Hestvika
The "Scan Trans" was taken in tow by the f/v "Smaragd" on Nov 6 at 9.30 p.m. being assisted by the lifeboat "Sundtflyer" and pulled to Hestvika in Hitra where it could be safely moored following its rudder damage and the failed attempt to get the casualty anchored twice. Tanker adrift in Bjugnfjord
On Nov 6, 2012, around 6 p.m. the Rescue Coordination Centre for Southern Norway was notified that the"Scan Trans" was distressed in bad weather in the Bjugnfjord with a crew of four aboard.The lifeboat "Sundt Flyer" and the m/v "Smaragd" went to assist. The ship later reached calmer seas, and by 8 p.m. it became clear that it was not in immediate danger. Problems with the gear had caused the "Scan Trans" to be unable to maneuver on its own. Additionally the ship had trouble getting anchored, so t the crew raised the alarm when the ship was lying between Tønnølsflua and Utstrand.
