Master of cargo ship detained after call at North Korean port
The Chinese master of the "Lucky Star 8" was detained in Rumoi for not declaring a previous call to a North Korean port. The vessel falsely claimed to have visited a Chinese port between January 29 and February 1, when it was really in the DPRK’s eastern port of Taean. The vessel docked in Rumoi on Mar 27, 2016, and sailed on Apr 4, bound for Dalian. All North Korean vessels are banned from docking at Japanese ports, and third-country ships that previously visited North Korea are banned from Japan.
