Passenger ship being inspected before next voyage
The "Sarfaq Ittuk" underwent a through inspection after she reached Nuuk on March 29. The ship will stay in Nuuk until March 30 and was expected to sail at 9 p.m. The vessel arrived at Arsuk on March 28. Passengers and crew have enjoyed playing and socializing during the six days the ship was stuck in the ice.
Passenger ship freed from ice
On March 28 the "Sarfaq Ittuk" finally arrived in Nuuk, six days late after stuck in the ice in southern Greenland. The ship freed itself from the ice on March 27. The company thanks the passengers for their patience. After arriving in three smaller ports on the south coast of Greenland, the ship reached Nuuk at 7 p.m. to undergo a thorough inspection and will stay in Nuuk until the evening of March 30. It was expected to depart northbbound at 9 p.m. During the involuntary stay, the Arctic Command had assessed the situation of the ship during several surveillance flights of a Challenger of the Armed Forces. Cruise ship still stuck in ice
On March 21, 2018, the "Sarfaq Ittuk" got stuck in the ice in Torssukatak in southern Greenland with 37 passengers and 21 crew members on board. The cruise ship was enroute to Nuuk at that time. The situation did not endanger neither ship, crew nor passengers. However, they could do nothing but wait for the wind to change.
