SAR MARINER 9244609
The “North Mariner” on July 4, 2010, responded to the request for assistance of the yacht “Margarita” and attached a tow line in order to bring the yacht back to the shelter of Aberdeen. Aberdeen was coordinating the rescue of the Norwegian skipper of the yacht who found himself adrift 33 miles off the Scottish coast who had radioed for help at 3.43 p.m. The boat was 33 miles away from shelter and making no headway in heavy seas with five to six meter swell and 35 knot winds. The lone Norwegian sailor reported that he was suffering from exhaustion whilst his vessel had power loss and was taking on water. The seismic survey vessel “Polaricus Nadia” was relaying the messages in Norwegian and then the Norwegian Survey Vessel “North Mariner” undertaking the tow.
