Fishing vessel towed to Luarca
On Oct 25, the Luarqués based fishing vessel 'Nueva Paloma' suffered an engine and was disabled and adrift, with three crew members on board, about 0.6 nautical miles north of Islas Perceberos. The fishermen request a tow. The CCS Gijón of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Capella', which towed the ship safely to Luarca.
Fishing vessel sank off Cabo Peñas - crew rescued
On May 27, the fishing vessel 'Nuevo Avril', based in San Juan de La Arena, suffered water ingress and sank 14 nautical miles westnorthwest of Cabo Peñas. The SAR helicopter Helimer 222 was mobilized by the CCS Gijón of Salvamento Marítimo and has rescued the two crew members, who had abandoned ship onto the life raft, and has taken them to El Musel, where an ambulance was waiting. The 'Salvamar Capella' was also deployed to the area to rule out a contamination due to the sinking. No signs of contamination were detected. The raft, the radio beacon, lifebuoys and some boxes were recovered by the SAR boat.
Troubled boat towed to port
On May 19, 2023, the 6,8-m-pleasure boat 'Xian' with 3 people on board suffered mechanical breakdown 500 meters off the San Esteban Lighthouse. The boat was anchored, but the anchor did not hold well. The CCS Gijón mobilized the 'Salvamar Capella', which towed it to the port of San Esteban de Pravia.
