Tug underway to salvage historic tug

Fri Sep 02 12:45:17 CEST 2022 Timsen

The 'Salvage Monarch' left Toronto on Sep 1, 2022, to participate in the salvage of the historic tug 'James Whelan' which has been submerged at the Kaministiquia River Heritage Park in the Kam River since May 1. Salvage operations to lift the tug out of the water will be underway soon. The Toronto Dry Dock was awarded the contract, and the 'Salvage Monarch' along with the barge 'Coastal Titan' were deployed from Toronto to Thunder Bay. The plan is to take one day for the salvage operation. Report with photo: https://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-news/james-whalen-tug-will-be-raised-by-october-5691806
