Fire in engine room

The 'Sally Ann', 100 gt, suffered a fire in its starboard side engine in position 56 43.8 N, 006 15.24 W, west of Ardnamurchan Point on March 13, 2020, at 5.30 p.m. The vessel lost power and requested assistance. The RNLI boat from Tobermory was tasked to tow the vessel to the port. After putting out a 'Pan Pan' alert, the crew managed to get the fire under control. However, in doing so, they were forced to shut down both engines and were drifting about a mile from the Ardnamuchan coast without any power. Later the crew stated that its port engine was running fine, whereas the starboard engine was affected by the fire and the bow thrusters were in out of action. Tobermory RNLI's volunteer crew received an immediate launch page at 5.32pm and the lifeboat was underway just 13 minutes later and made best speed to the casualty vessel. The crew passed a line to the vessel and she was towed towards Tobermory in relatively good conditions. Just after dropping the tow rope and securing the fish farm vessel for an alongside tow, the wind picked up significantly which made manoeuvring the much larger vessel a challenge for the lifeboat and her crew. Subsequently, the vessel allided with a pontoon, while berthing at Tobermory, but encountered only superficial damage. Staff from the Tobermory Harbour Authority were able to help secure her. The Tobermory and Craignure CRTS assisted the vessel in berthing. The Scottish fire and rescue service ensured that the fire was out at the aquaculture pontoon in Tobermory. Support vessel towed to Tobermory

The Tobermory RNLI's volunteer crew went to the aid of the "Sally Ann" off Ardnamurchan on the evening of Aug 17, 2019. The vessel, which had suffered engine failure, was adrift south of the Ardnamurchan peninsula in squally Force 6 south westerly winds. The Tobermory RNLI's volunteer crew was paged at 7.27 p.m. and launched their Severn class all weather lifeboat "Elizabeth Fairlie Ramsey" eight minutes later. With a fishing boat and a local charter RIB standing by, the Tobermory's volunteer crew managed to pass a line to the support vessel and tow it back towards Tobermory. Whilst the vessel was under tow, its crew managed to restart the engines and once into Tobermory Bay they were able to make their way to the pontoon under their own power where she was met by members of the Tobermory Coastguard Rescue Team. Tug disabled during towing of fish farm nets

On its arrival at the Scallastel Bay in the evening of Feb 25, 2015, the "Lysblink Seaway"-convoy found the "Sally Ann", towing fish farm nets, already occupying the anchorage. When asked to move, the "Sally Ann" got a rope wrapped round her propeller.
