Survivors rescued by Saga Enterprise on their way home
Most of the 15 Chinese and Indonesian survivors of the "Bahari Nusantara" who had arrived at Réunion on Nov 19, left the island on Nov 22. They were taken to Roland Garros Airport in Sainte-Marie. Two remained on the island, one still being in hospital. The "Bahari Nusantara" had been abandoned after the engine room was flooded. The crew spent 17 days on a liferaft intended for ten people until they were spotted by the "Saga Enterprise". They were then transferred to a lifeboat of the SNSM and taken in care of the police and emergency services in Réunion. Cargo ship saved shipwrecked fishers from liferaft
The "Saga Enterpise" was involved in a rescue operation south of La Réunion in the night of Nov 19, 2012. The ship recovered 15 survivors from a life raft 140 miles south of the island after the Indonesian f/v "Bahari Nusantara" has sunk. The men were of Chinese and Indonesian nationalities. Their ship had sailed from Mauritius on Oct 3 and suffered an explosion on Nov 3 after which it had to be abandoned. The "Enterprise Saga" was heading for La Réunion with the survivors. In tehe East Port zone they were to be transferred aboard the "SNSM2" under support of the Coastguard.
