Disabled ferry under tow to Tuzla

The "Saffet Bey" suffered technical failure at Cesme on Apr 18, 2018. The tug "Marintug II" was appointed to tow the vessel from Cesme to a Tuzla shipyard. The vessel entered the Canakkale Strait from the southern in the morning of Apr 23. During the strait passage, a Coastal Safety tug provided escort service for the vessel and ensured strait traffic safety. The "Saffet Bey" arrived at Tuzla on Apr 24 and left the yard again on May 13 at 12.30 a.m., bound to Çeşme, ETA May 15 at 11 a.m.

Repairs of grounding damage completed

The "Saffet Bey" berthed in Genova in the morning of Oct 28 as first port of call after repairs of grounding damage were fixed in Tuzla from Sep 20 until Oct 18. The ship continued to Mostaganem the same evening.

Ferry refloated

On Sep 6 the "Saffet Bey" has been pulled off the rocky coast of Prophet Elias at Cape Maleas by the tugs "Apollon" (IMO: 7431806) and "Pantanassa" (IMO: 9332561), supported by the ship's engine. The ship was moored off Profitis Ilias.
