Safe Bristolia stopped by emergency anchoring
Eurosafe, the owners of the "Safe Bristolia" which came adrift in the North Sea, will attempt to get a tow line aboard on Jan 6. The captain of the vessel, which has 33 crew on board, has deployed one of the two emergency anchors overnight in order to stop the vessel’s drift until the sea-state comes down. The accomodation platform was holding is position in UK waters, 148 km from shore and the crew was to attempt to reinstate the tow later with two anchor handling vessels in the vicinity. Prosafe was continuing to monitor the situation, working in close cooperation with the Coastguard. The vessel, which is not currently on hire, broke its tow line in heavy seas on Jan 3, 120 km east of Montrose as it was being towed from the Cromarty Firth to Gdansk.
