Fire on the Saar
In the afternoon of July 6, 2019, a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Saarstern" during a trip on the Saar near Mettlach. The ship was berthed in Dreisbach where the passengers were disembarked and carried on by coaches. The volunteer fire brigade put out the fire along with the crew. The captain suffered slight smoke gas inhalation and was medically treated along with one more person. The police launched an investigation. Hydraulic fuel had spilt onto a hot exhaust pipe and caught fire.
