Uniworld to Refurb River Cruise Ship Into Luxurious "Super Ship"
Uniworld is adding a fifth "super ship" to its river cruise fleet by revamping a current vessel for 2018. Originally launched in 2009, River Beatrice will receive a bow-to-stern renovation, with a new grand staircase, a private dining area to replace the Captain's Lounge and Library, and three new suites -- two 375-square-foot Royal Suites and an Owner's Suite. The 156-passenger ship's 12 existing suites will be refreshed, and connecting rooms will be added for families traveling together. The design team from Red Carnation Hotels will oversee redesign of the public spaces and rooms. High-tech amenities will also be added. "We are thrilled to re-launch the S.S. Beatriceas our first vessel to be upgraded to a Super Ship," said Uniworld President & CEO, Ellen Bettridge. "Uniworld is committed to providing the utmost in luxury, and following the successful launch of the S.S. Joie de Vivre earlier this year, we are eager to introduce yet another remarkable Super Ship to Europe's waterways." S.S. Beatrice's maiden voyage will take place on April 4, 2018, coinciding with the official launch of U by Uniworld, the company's new brand -- the first river cruise line aimed at travelers ages 21 to 45. The line is taking a similar tactic with U by Uniworld by refurbing existing vessels River Ambassador and River Baroness into The A and The B. https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=8025
