Groundiing near Randers
The 'Bulk Carrier', en route from Randers to Horsens, ran aground in position 56 34 49 N, 010 16 23 E, on Nov 28, 2020, at 07.26 a.m. short time after its departure from the port. The vessel refloated by its own means again within a few minutes. The Port Authority of Randers detained the vessel until a certificate of seaworthiness was issued. An underwater inspection was carried out by the divers and the vessel was deemed seaworthy on Nov 29. It sailed from Randers on Nov 29 at 1 p.m. and arrived in Horsens on Nov 30 at 6.45 a.m.
West Carrier saved fisherman
After a fishing vessel got in trouble enroute to Skjervøy on Mar 27, 2014, at 3:47 a.m. north of the Gisund Bridge at Finnsnes in Troms, the "West Carrier" rescued its skipper. The cargo ship had sailed from Tromso-Breivika Port short past midnight and was soon on site after the wooden fishing boat allided with an ice flow in stormy weather. The boat took in water and sank within short time. There had been quite a few thick and large ice floes which had drifted from Laksefjord into the strait. The single man aboard the 29-foot boat jumped into a life raft. The "West Carrier" was first on scene and launched a rescue boat to recover the skipper. Also the Hurtigruten ferry "Richard With" meanwhile arrived at the accident site. At 4:15 ga.m. the castaway was picked up and taken to shore where he was accomodated in a hotel and later questioned by the police.
