Collision being investigated
On Aug 27 the "Rygerfonn" was back on its normal route again after the collision with a pleasure boat in the Bjørnefjord the previous evening. The 17-year-old man who was on board the pleasure boat was only slightly injured in the accident. The "Rygerfonn" was coming with a speed of 30 knots from the port of Os when the crew on the bridge remarked the open 20-ft-boat that appraoched at the port side. The "Rygerfonn" tried to notify the boat that it was on a collision course, but it did not comply. When the boats were so close to another that there was a danger of a collision, the "Rygerfonn" turned the engine in reverse and slowed down as much as it could. The boat skipper swam to the speedboat and climbed a ladder after his boat was run over and destroyed. The patrol boat "Bergen" was nearby when the announcement of the collision came over the radio. Ot first sent a sanitary ware on board ithe n "Rygerfonn". Then it got the injured man transported to Os City where he was taken to Haukeland. The wreckage of the boat was pulled on board with a winch. The ferry only suffered some scratches. After the collision the crew was offered to be replaced. The criminal prosecutor at Os and Austevoll , Audun Hadler-OIsen, stalked to the captain of the "Rygerfonn" and the 17-year-old who was in the boat. Speed ferry in collision with pleasure boat - skipper rescued with injuy
A 17 year old teenager ended up in the sea after the collision of the "Rygerfonn" with his pleasure boat on Aug 26, 2018, in the Bjørnafjord. The MRCC was alerted at 7.58 p.m. The only person aobard the wrecked pleasure boat was thrown over board but was immediately picked up by the crew of the speed ferry. He had suffered a minor injury at the foot. He was taken to Os and cared for by the health service there before taken to hospital in Haukeland by ambulance. Only debris was left of his boat. The passengers of the "Rygerfonn", none of whom was injured in the incident, were transferred to another fast ferry which took them on to Rosendal. There was no suspicion on drug involvement on both sides. The police launched an investigation. Ferry ran into pier and remained stuck
On Sep 15, 2012, the "Rygerfonn" crashed into a pier at Tysnes. The police received was notified about the accident at pier at Malkenes at 12.43 a.m. There were 29 passengers on board when the accident happened. The catamaran ferry remained stuck and was unable to pull off with own means. Police, fire brigade and ambulance were sent to the site. The ship suffered significant damage to the bow. With the exception of one person having suffered a shock no one injured inspite of the strong impact. The passengers were taken ashore after the ferry was secured.
