The crew of the sunken trawler had been safely landed ashore in Dieppe on Apr 8 at 7.30 a.m. and were interrogated by the French Coastguard about the accident at the edge of the traffic separation zone off Pas- de-Calais which happened in calm seas while they were fishing with all lights on. The "Ambassadeur" had hit their ship on port side aft, and it foundered within half an hour. The "Rève de Mousse“ had recovered them around 2 a.m. from a raft.
Ambassadeur sank French trawler
In the night of Apr 8, 2013, the "Ambassadeur" was in collision with the French trawler "Loïc Lucas - CN 387642" shortly after midnight about 70 km north of Cape Antifer (Seine-Maritime), for yet unknown reasons. The "Ambassadeur" was enroute Luebeck-Moerdijk at that time. The trawler suffered a leak and started to sink. Several fishing and merchant vessels were diverted to rescue them. The MRCC Jobourg, in consultation with the MRCC Gris-Nez, alerted the Belligou Rescue, a helicopter EC 225 of the Navy. Meanwhile, the four sailors aboard the "Loïc Lucas" abandoned ship into a life raft. The cargo ship also turned around for assistance to the fishermen, but they were taken aboard by the fishing vessel "Rève de Mousse 1" which was first on scene. They were brought ashore at Dieppe on in the morning of Apr 8.
