Rentranscargo 2 pushing wreck of salvaged German passenger ship to breakers at Szczecin
On Apr 26, 2013, the "Rentranscargo II" pushed the wreck of the German passenger m/v "Atlantis II" , 243 gt (IMO: 5029740), out of the port of Netzelkow bound to breakers in Sczcezin. The passenger ship was taken into the port in 1996 by the Hansa Shipping APS on order of the Ostseereederei Valduz. Both companies seized to exist since. The "Atlantis II" sprang aleak in 1998 for the first time, was patched, but sank again in summer 2012. Four tons fuel were drained since, the wreck was surrounded by oil barriers. Since Apr 23 the salvage Company Baltic Taucher from Rostock had been working on the salvage of the "Atlantis II", patched open holes and started to dewater the hull with several pumps. On Apr 24 the ship had started to raise in the water and was subsequently drained.
