Deck cargo damaged in storm

Wed Dec 19 11:23:14 CET 2018 Timsen

Having left Vagberg in Sweden on Dec 12, 2018, the "Rossana" diverted to Brest during the night of Dec 16 and berthed at repair dock number 3 of the CIB Brest Shipyard on Dec 17 at 2.30 a.m. The bulkcarrier had loaded 22,000 tonnes of sawn timber bound for the USA, and some of the deck cargo was damaged in stormy seas during its transit through the English Channel. 5,000 tons of wood were on the deck of the ship, and the stowage of some packages had to be rectified. Experts came on board on Dec 17 to decide what to do and finally unloading of the deck cargo started in the afternoon of Dec 18. The ship departed from Brest on Dec 24, upon completion of restowage, bound for Cape Canaveral with an ETA as of Jan 6, 2019.
