Main engine for sale as parts
The "Rosethorn" recently was moored at Fornaes Shipbreaking in Grenaa and will now be scrapped. The main engine B & W Alpha diesel 8V23L-VO of 749 kW, which is damaged, will be sold as parts. http://www.fornaes.dk/english/news.php
Scrap ship towed to Asaa
On June 26, 2012, the "Rosethorn" was towed from the South Quay in Brunsbuettel to Asaa where the new owner Hjeml Christensen, who paid 1050000 Euro in an auction, will be breaking up the ship. The vessel was pulled by the tugs "Baltsund" and "Hans". The vessel had been berthed in Brunsbuetel since an engine failure on Aug 3, 2008, and the Brodo Trading Ltd., which does no longer exist, would have to pay around 170000 Euro to the Shipping Authority North in Kiel for this time for occupying quay space. Scrap in Denmark after four year long lay-up
On Apr 25, 2012, the "Rosethorn" was auctioned in Brunsbüttel after a lay up of four years and will now be broken up in Denmark.
