Ferry service suspended due to technical trouble
The ferry service Flesnes - Revsnes on the county road 83 was suspended on Sep 13, 2018, due to technical problems with the "Roesund". The ferry was sidelined in Flensnes for repairs. Operator Torghatten Nord announced that they would come up with an update by 11 a.m.
Replacement ferry inserted
On Sep 23 Torghatten Nord AS inserted the replacement ferry "Virak" (IMO: 7805162) on the route Refsnes-Flesnes starting at 09:30 a.m. Until then motorists had to detour via E10.The "Røsund" had lost engine power on the way to the wharf at Flesnes the previous morning and went straight onto the shore. She was the spare ferry for the "Hålogaland" which normally served the route but was on a planned yard stay at Hamek in Harstad. The "Røsund" was pulled out by the tug "Bord Odin" (IMO: 8108121) which had been called from Breivika at 10.20 p.m. on Sep 22. Ferry grounded in Flensnes
The "Røsund" which is serving between Refsnes and Flensnes suffered an engine failure at Flesnes in the Kvæfjord, Troms, on Sep 21, 2015, at 8.30 a.m. She got stuck in shallow water at the breakwater 200 meters away from the ferry landing after the main engine stopped so that the ship became unmanoererable and ran onto the breakwater. The passengers have been evacuated onto the breakwater. The cars were still on board. Passengers crossing the Gullesfjord must now drive around via Highway 1. The ferry had just been inserted on Sep 6 to replace the "Hålogaland" on the route during a scheduled yard stay at Hamek in Harstad.
