Freighter adrift off Fehmarn

The 'Rix Lagoon', enroute from Rendsburg to Kaliningrad was disabled in stormy seas on the Baltic Sea on Feb 25, 2020, around midday. The ship which had left the Kiel Canal locks at 9.25 a.m. eastbound was drifting off Fehmarn island in Northwestern direction. The Kiel based emergency tug 'Bülk' was deployed in order to assist the vessel at 1 p.m. and pull it back to Kiel and has meanwhile reached the 'Rix Lagoon'. In the evening the ship dropped anchor off Fehmarn in pos. 54° 35.53' N 010° 59.75' E and was attended by the anti pollution vessel 'Scharhörn'. On Feb 26 the trouble was fixed and the ship underway again to Kaliningrad. arrived off the port of Kaliningrad. On Feb 27 around 9 a.m. the ship dropped anchor in pos. 54° 39.35' N 019° 48.63' E waiting for clearance to enter port.

Collision in St. Georges Canal

The cargo m/v "Georgios Alexios" was in collision with the "Antaeus - GV.711864", 129 gt, on Nov 12, 2016, at 11 p.m. in the Saint-Georges Canal between the British coast and Ireland. The fishing vessel from Guilvinec, which had sailed from Saint-Guénolé (Finistère) on Nov 7, was close to capsizing under the impact when the cargo ship slammed into the stern, but the crew of five remained uninjured. The damaged ship managed to reach the port of Douamenez under own power, arriving there short before midnight. The "Georgios Alexios" continued the voyage from Drogheda to Antwerp, ETA Nov 15. The collision took place in the British responsibility zone, both British and French authorities launched an investigation.
