Grounding off Kolding
The "Rix Atlantic" ran aground outside of Drejens on May 7, 2019, at 5.25 a.m. in pos. 55° 29.61' N 009° 34.95' E. The ship was enroute from Klaipeda, where it had sailed on May 4, to Kolding, ETA May 7, carrying a cargo of maize. The police was currently investigating why the ship grounded. It was thought that the captain read the chart incorrectly and turned too late, so that the ship sailed into a sandbar. The Danish tug "Valdemar" (IMO: 8108121) was called from Fredericia on May 8 at 7.20 and went alongside the casualty in the foremidday. The "Rix Atlantic" was refloated in the afternoon and, after inspections of the hull, taken to the port of Kolding where it berthed on May 8 at7.40 p.m. at the South Quay.
