Closed liferaft container found on wreck
In one of the dives carried out by the ROV to the "Rigel" at a depth of 93 meters, it detected a closed liferaft container, which triggered a series of questions about its functionality. With favorable weather conditions in the search area, located almost 200 kilometers from the city of Rawson Chubut, the rescue vessel "Tango" continued to operate with the survey equipment one month after the shipwreck, in which eight crew members remained missing. Family members insisted on the need to check the accomodation area for bodies. The Prefectura did not yet give any signal regarding the possible participation of divers in the operation due to the complexity of the maneuvers at that depth.
Bad weather prevents ROV from descending to Rigel wreck
Bad weather prevented investigations to verify if the bodies of the missing crew of the "Rigel" was still inside the wreck. Until July 6 there will be gusts of 30 or 40 kilometers and the ROV can not be deployed according to the the Puerto Madryn Prefecture. The families of the eight missing crew members were still waiting fpr confirmation if the bodies were found inside the fishing vessel. . The ship was found by a sonar sweep of the "Víctor Angelescu" on June 21, but only lon July 1 this could be corroborated by a ROV that took underwater images which showed the name of the ship and the homeport Mar del Plata, but nothing else.
Lost trawler found in a depth of 93 meters
On July 1, the 'Rigel', which had disappeared 23 days off Chubut was found by the Naval Prefecture 93 meters deep in the Argentine Sea near the city of Punta Tombo. The 'Tango - SB-15' located the ship thanks to its special equipment with a ROV.
