Medevac in Plettenberg Byy

Tue Aug 08 09:00:53 CEST 2017 Timsen

On Aug 6, 2017, at 1.39 p.m. the NSRI Plettenberg Bay duty crew was activated following a request for medical assistance from the "Rigel 4", reporting a 33 year old crewman requiring an evacuation for lower abdominal pains. The sea rescue craft "Free Runner" was launched and later joined by the sea rescue craft "Leonard Smith". Upon arrival on the scene, one kilometer off the coast in the Plettenberg Bay, the patient was taken onboard the sea rescue craft Leonard Smith and brought to shore and he was transported to hospital in a stable condition. Later, on hearing that the patient was released from hospital to return home to Cape Town, the NSRI Plettenberg Bay crew made arrangements and transported the fisherman from hospital to the bus stop and he boarded a bus to go home.
