Vessel towed to Karystos
The Port Authorities of Rafina, Lavrio, Andros and Karystos, Greece were informed by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center of the Hellenic Coast Guard that the 'Rhino' en route from the port of Volos to the port of Aliveri with nine crew members on board, suffered a mechanical breakdown in vicinity 37 50 30 N, 024 28 14 E, nine nautical miles south of the Karystos Gulf in the morning of Aug 11, 2022. Early on Aug 12, the tug 'Apollon' took the ship in tow to the Karystos anchorage. The Karystos Port Authority, which was conducting a preliminary investigation, prohibited the sailing of the ship until the engine was repaired, and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the classifier monitoring the vessel.
Engine trouble off Sigri
The Port Authority of Mytilene was informed in the evening hours of Feb 12, 2021 by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center that 'Rhino' had suffered a mechanical damage outside the port of Sigri, Lesvos, with nine (09) crew members on board. The 'Ioannis S' was sent to assist and took the ship in tow. It was pulled into the Kavaki port in Petra. The Port Authority of Mithymna banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of sea worthiness by the classification society monitoring the ship. The ship entered the repair yard at Perama on Feb 21. Permanent repairs were being carried out, under the supervision of owners' superintendent and the shipyard technical team.
Rhino disabled at Isthmia
On Feb 24, 2018, at 7.25 p.m. the "Rhino" suffered main engine malfunction enroute from Thessaloniki to Kalamaki in pos. 38 08 46N, 24 36 58E. The vessel was taken in tow and arrived at Isthmia on Feb 26 at 3.30 p.m.
