Cable layer sank due to fire
On Sep 11, 2020, at 3.40 a.m. a fire broke out aboard the 'Responder' west of the southern tip of Tsushima island in the East China Sea. All 60 people on board, including 49 Koreans, 10 Vietnamese and an Italian were rescued by a tug in the vicinity without any injury. The South Korean Coastguard and SAR deployed ships for fire fighting. On Sep 12 at 5.40 p.m. the 'Responder' sank bow first after more than 12-hour long fire fighting operations, still fiercely burning in the accomodation and engine room area.
