Lifeboat on the rocks
The "Bill" was badly damaged when running on rocks at Ottersteinen west of Mandal between Hille and the mainland in the night of Nov 11, 2015, with about 24 knots. The "Bill" was out on a trial after an engine repair. The boat suffered major injuries on both sides, took in water and spilled oil, so that the alerted fire brigade laid out oil booms. The accident was reported to the police at 7.44 p.m. The MRCC sent the lifeboat "Ægir" to assist. Pparamedics and the police were sent to Sjøbodvik. One of the crew of two of the "Bill" suffered bruises and was checked at the doctor. A crane barge was on site at 10 p.m. in order to lift the "Bill" from the rocks. The lifeboat "Ægir" remained on stand by. On NOv 12 at 7 a.m. the "Bill" was deposited on the Ballast Wharf in Mandal. A vessel inspector was now on its way from Oslo to Mandal and was to be going through the damage of the "Bill" during the day.
