One dead, one missing after collision
The Japanese cargo m/v "Yamato Maru No. 8", 600 dwt (IMO: 8815372) was in collision with the "Hosho Maru", 1630 dwt (IMO: 8742630), on June 15, 2016, around 11.45 a.m. in the inner Japan Sea, about two miles off Ueshima Island un the Hyogo Prefecture. The ship was on its way to Osaka North Port in Osaka Prefecture from Ako Port in Hyogo Prefecture, carrying 1,300 metric tons of crushed stones. The "Yamato Maru No. 8" capsized and sank, of the three crew, one went missing, one died in a hospital, one was slightly injured. The dead were identified as Fumihiko Kita, 50, the captain of the 499-ton "Yamato Maru No. 8", and Muneyuki Hamabuchi, a 28-year-old male engineer on the same ship. The five people aboard the "Hosho Maru" were unhurt, and the vessel sailed to Himeji port after the accident.
