German girl medevaced onto Royal Clipper
A young German girl aboard the "Regina Maris" was medevaced in the Atlantic on Dec 7, 2017, and sent to the Meynard Hospital. The ship was en route to the West Indies when it required medical advice. The CROSS AG was informed by its counterpart in the Netherlands. The ship was then in the French zone of responsibility for the rescue. The CROSS AG took over the operation. The maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse advised an evacuation of the girl to a hospital as soon as possible. The ship was 900 nautical miles east of Martinique and therefore out of range for a hoist. Vessels in the vicinity were contacted to assist the "Regina Maris". The Russian seismic research vessel "Professor Logachev" provided medical support and complementary medicines to the doctor on board the "Regina Maris". On Dec 6 the girl embarked on the Maltese sailing cruise ship "Royal Clipper" which headed to a rendezvous point with a Panther helicopter of the flotilla of the Armed Forces in the Caribbean off Martinique two days later. In the afternoon of Dec 8, despite strong wind and high swell, the helicopter hoisted the girl who was then taken to Martinique.
