Tanker aground off São Sebastião
After having come from Rio de Janeiro, the "Recife Knutsen" ran aground on a sandbar in the evening of Feb 15, 2016, around 7 p.m. while manoevering off the port of São Sebastião. The tanker was trying to dock in inclement weather conditions with winds of 60 km/h and rain. Because of the bad weather, the attempt was aborted, but the ship got stuck between São Sebastião and Ilhabela. On Feb 16 the tugs "Rebocador Plutao", "Taurus", "WS Bellatrix", "WS Perseus" and "WS Phoenix" were assembled to refloat the tanker. After having been pulled off, it was moored on Feb 18 off São Sebastião.
