Grounded bulkcarrier impends Mississippi traffic
The "Arouzu" loaded with pig iron grounded in the lower Mississippi River on June 12, 2013, around 9.30 a.m. impeding the ship traffic for several hours. The bulkcarrier on its way from Venice, Louisiana, to Nola, got stuck above Head of Passes on its way to LaPlace. Timewise only one-way traffic was allowed in the area but two-way traffic resumed in the afternoon. There were no reports of pollution or injuries. Blue Water Shipping sent three tugs to pull the ship off.
