Collision at 22 knots
A speedboat was in collision with the "Rani" in the By Fjord on Feb 1, 2015. The loaded "Rani" was coming from north and had passed under Nordhordland Bridge, before seting course for the port of Bergen. Right outside Nornespynten it made a u-turn. At 8.30 p.m. the crew of the "Rani" notified the Port Control in Bergen about the accident. The crew of the "Rani" reported that the smaller boat had run right next to them at a speed of about 22 knots. The AHTS "Skandi Iceman" which was close by lighted the accident site to assist in the operation. The lifeboat "Kristian G. Jebsen" rushed to the scene and escorted the damaged leisure boat to the jetty at Måseskjæret north of Bergen. One woman was taken to an ambulance that waited on the dock. The second person, a man, apparently had suffered no injury. The police said there was suspicion of guiding the boat while being intoxicated. The man had to pass a breathalyser test.
