Ramnfjord lifted off reef
In the night of Aug 29 the "Ramnfjord" was removed from the Haka Reef off Hustadvika where the vessel went aground in April and suffered severe damage. The salvage company Bukser og Berging had been contracted to remove the wreck which was still partially afloat. The ship was lifted by the sheerleg "Mammut Krana III" which had arrived at the grounding site on Aug 25. The stern was lifted off the rocks hanging in a heavy chain at 9 p.m. on Aug 28, and at 11.20 p.m. the ship was floating again. While sheerleg with its lifting capacity of 150 tons was stabilizing the stern which also had suffered most damage, the foreship was kept afloat by a floating collar and buoyancy improved with empty tanks inside. The wreck was next transported to the Boat and Fish Farming Service in Averøya by the tug "BB Coaster" to be prepared for its last voyage to breakers in Stokksund in South Trøndelag. Also involved in the diver catamaran "Fosna" and the "Max Mammut".
