RAGGIANA ARROW 9144392

Fri Mar 11 22:04:33 CET 2011 Timsen

The "Emu Arrow" during the earthquake on Mar 11, 2011, was caught by tsunami waves while she was discharging cargo at the port of Kashima. The ship collided with other ships, but remained afloat a short distance from her berth at Kashima. Due to a strong current, her main engine and bow thruster were being used to maintain position and the vessel was responding well. There were indications of quite extensive damage to her hull but no oil spill has been detected. A company representative is on his way to Kashima to assist with damage assessments. The ship is now well anchored, and the crew will spend the evening and night to get an overview of the extent of damage. None of the crew of 26 was injured.
