Cargo ship listed in Tenes - 11 injured

Wed Jul 11 12:11:29 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Pasha" with 13 crew members, among them 12 Syrians and one Egyptian - started to list to starboard in the late afternoon of July 9, 2018, at the port of Tenes just as it was about to unload 4.092 tons melamine wood panels for the manufacturing of furniture. 11 persons suffered injuries, including two crew members and nine dockers, who were transpoerted to the emergency department of Tenes hospital. The condition of the victims was not serious, since most were able to leave the hospital after undergoing the necessary care. The port company (ETP), and all the relevant stakeholders at the port of Tenes have mobilized the necessary means to straighten the ship and proceed at the same time with the unloading of its shifted cargo by pupping of ballast water. An investigation was launched by the authorized services to determine the cause of the cargo shift.
