Man fell or jumped over board and died
In the afternoon of Jan 13, 2014, a person went overboard the "Prinses Maxima" at 1.50 p.m. The lifeboats of the KNRM-stations Breskens, the "Zeemanshoop", the "Winifred Lucy Verkade-Clark" from Cadzand and the "Uly" from Westkapelle were tasked to carry out a search for the person jointly with the pilot boats "Honte" and "Discovery", a Coastguard aircraft, a Belgian Seaking and NHV helicopters, the patrol boat "RWS 78" and the police launch "P 41" which took over the on-scene-command. At 3.15 p.m. the victim was found and taken aboard the "Uly". Crew members of the "Zeemannshoop" boarded the "Uly" and tried to reanimate the man while the boat rushed to the Poseidon Pier at Flushing where ambulance teams were ready to take over. Unfortunately the victim deceased. It was unclear whether the man fell or jmped overboard. The police questioned the passengers of the ferry in this regard.
