Refugee ship shifts to Haarlem after outbreak of typhoid fever
The 'Prinses Christina', on of the two refugee ships at the port of Arnhem, will leave for Haarlem on May 6. She houses 96 refugees and has been in use as an emergency reception location since April 15. This happened after typhoid fever broke out in a Haarlem reception center for refugees: no fewer than 41 people were contracted the highly contagious intestinal disease. To prevent even more refugees from contracting typhoid fever, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) hastily sought a new reception location. The 96 refugees will return to Haarlem, but will not go to the old reception location. They will remain on the ship, which will dock at the Conrad Quay in the center of Haarlem.

The patients complained of nausea and had to vomit. The ship was underway with 92 passengers and crew and was put into quarantine in Germersheim. The passengers who did not fall ill were brought home by bus. It was the second incident on the ship within a few months. In May 50 people siffered frp, norovirus.
Virus on the Rhine
During a cruise on the Rhine, 25 passengers of the "Prinses Christina" suffered a virus infection. Several aid workers, health officials and a hygiene officer boarded the ship in the evening of May 27, 2015, in Boppard, and made sure that the health status of the patients on board was stable. All sick remained on board, because the doctors saw no threat in the further development of the disease. In total, one hundred people were on board the cruise ship.
