Light diesel fuel was flowing from the capsized dredger barge. The Maritime Prefecture sent an evaluation team of the naval base Cherbourg. The barge which had been working in the canal of Flamanville was almoste completely submerged at high tide with its port side still showing above water near the dock. The ship had on board 17,000 liters of diesel oil. There was no risk of pollution of waters outside the port.
